This week...
I looked up at the sky.
I enjoyed the colors of my life.
I praised the Great Mother.
I stopped and smelled the flowers.
and I visited some gnomish friends.
I have gone back to my yard. The weather has been cold and not treated it nicely. The plants thirst for water while I sit in a corner afraid to water them for fear of torturing them any further. I live in Miami. Yes, the one in Florida. And as much as I hate city life and the hecticness and plasticity that comes with it I also love that I can escape in my own back yard....

Guitar Straps
They are not my particularly favorite thing to make but once they are done I feel very proud. They are a lot of work, a lot of knots and inches and I always add the tassel of overflowing beads. I only make them as custom orders since I do make them personalized for the wearer.
Get your order in now for 2009!

Busy in the Studio...
I have been so busy. Gift giving season is just around the corner and I already have orders pouring in. A good thing! Meanwhile, I did find some time to make some new stocking stuffers. The first ones being key chains both long and short but all dangly :)
Here is a sample for all of you!
Some are already gone so hopefully they will be a hit and fly off the shelfs!
I'm also coming out next week with the new headbands. If you would like one ahead of time reserve yours now!
Please, don't forget to check that candy and have a safe but fun Halloween!

Raimbowtree
Amber is this cute girl I met randomly on Etsy and immediately fell in love with. I mean the girl is the cutest, reminds me of an elf, and she makes the most beautiful, organic, felted scarves, hats, headbands and barrettes. We have done a few trades as I am lucky enough that she likes my work also. I wanted to share with everyone this very talented girl! Please be sure to check her store I promise you won't be disappointed.
Below is my collection of her work :)

Thrift store find
I have a Red, White & Blue thrift store down the street a couple of blocks. I spend quite a lot of time there lately. I had gone by there many times but never stopped in, being that living in North Miami I never thought I would find anything good in there. Wow, was I wrong! Now I am totally addicted! Last Monday I went in looking for some cool art I could put up in my house, I wanted something vintage, something artsy or something that I could recycle and put to good use. What I ended up purchasing both thrilled me and excited me and opened up a whole new venue for me!
Here it is...
for $30.00! It is very old. I think late 1950's early 60's era. The pamphlets don't show any date whatsoever and when I looked up the model (Kenmore 1357) nothing showed up on the web. Now don't be getting ideas that I am actually going to be sewing dresses and the like (hee, hee). But rather I saw as a way to upgrade the headbands I have been making. Making them both more beautiful and comfy :).
Here is a close up of the fabric I got to star of with. There seems to be a lot of it, as they used to be curtain panels. It is super soft and the colors just blow me away. So go ahead and make a day of it. Visit your local thrift store and in the process help our fellow humans who are in need of dire help.

I have had this blog up for a while and it isn't until now that I actually have the time and stamina to upkeep it! Let me introduce myself..I am a Hemp Artist... or that is what I call myself. I make jewelry and accessories strictly in macrame. I enjoy photography inmensely, I think it has to do with my Dad chasing us with a camera since we where very small. I stalk thrift stores on a weekly basis, looking for inspiration and items I can recycle in my work. I hope to share a little of my world with yours! :)
Namaste,
