Trip to Pittsburgh

Last week I finally got to visit Pittsburgh. It turned out to be a very eye opening, enlightening experience for me. I was impressed by every corner of this city.

I took the train.... which I always enjoy fully. I look out the window I take pictures and feel instantly transported back to the 1920's.

I walked (AND I MEAN WALKED! A LOT) through streets full of old and intricate architecture and bridges of steel. In the middle of winter with freezing winds I did not seem to feel.

 I went to Church ...

Marveled at the intricate craftsmanship of some of these old buildings and had a conversation about how you could tell people had a sense of pride and love and dedication in their work. Can you imagine? Having to do all that work by hand. How many hours, how many days and yet even in the poorest of houses you look up at the ceiling and see some beautiful form of art ..be it around the lamps or in the corners or all throughout. Why did people stop doing this?

Saw some unique street art

.....and realized that there are still some very beautiful people out there....

Above all I laughed a LOT and smiled a LOT...and fell in LOVE....with Pittsburgh ;)

What I Made This Week

This is what I have been working on all this week. Ear Gauge Plugs. All organic made with fine dyed hemp. Some are all knotted , some have beads.

These remind me of yummy cupcakes even though I was thinking beachy the whole time.

These are coned shaped. In violet hemp with turquoise round.

Happy Birthday Olive

Today our sweet Olive turns 1. I might say it has been a very , very interesting year. I have lost all my shoes. My furniture is a little chewed up at the edges. She will eat anything including plants, rocks , dirt ...there is no preference. She is a joy to have around and we can't imagine our lives without her.

HAPPY 1ST BDAY OLIVE!

The day we got her. 6 weeks old. Such amazing eyes.

@ 3 months.

Such a sleepy puppy at 6 months. She carried that bunny everywhere until it fell apart a few weeks ago.

Happy girl!

Cheese. Smile Olive! 10 months old

Gnawing happily on her gift.

Etsy Crush

As I'm browsing through my circles on Etsy I came across this shop. Oh my! So in love. I am doe eyed, little hearts. So of course I had to share!

Poison Apple Ornament. I've always liked creepy art. I don't know what it is or what I like more. Skulls are right up on top of the list for sure.

Dia de los Muertos - Sugar Skull

I know the image is a little strong but I love. It is my favorite for sure. It's so cute yet so gory. There goes that floaty feeling again. Aside from all the incredible felting she also has art prints. Her name is Miyo Yamamoto and you can visit her shop here - The Grinning Cat

For Lisa

Recent custom order I did for a friend in Sweden. There is a whole different feeling and satisfaction when you make someone what they truly envisioned.

She was very happy with her order which she shared with her twin sister. They will be sending us photos soon. Will share in a special blog post about fan love.
